These terms govern your use of the Shikaku Kingdom mobile app (iPhone, iPad and Android), made by Ben Basha ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you accept them. Contact: shikaku@benbasha.com.
If you downloaded the app from Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) also applies. If you downloaded it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service apply to your use of Google Play. Where those store terms and these terms differ on a point the store terms cover, the store terms win.
1. What the app is
Shikaku Kingdom is a single-player logic puzzle game. You divide each board into rectangles, level by level, and build a paper city on a kingdom map. It includes a daily puzzle (the Daily Dispatch), hints, a story told in paper vignettes, and Game Center leaderboards and achievements on iPhone and iPad. There is no account.
2. License to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own entertainment. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent or reverse-engineer the app, or extract its puzzles, art, music or source code, except where the law allows it despite these terms.
3. Free to play, with ads
The app is free to download and play. It shows ads between levels (after your first 15 levels, capped, and never during a puzzle) and offers optional videos that you can choose to watch for in-game rewards. What ad serving involves, and the choices you have, are described in the privacy policy at https://shikaku.benbasha.com/privacy. An in-game reward is granted only when the ad network reports that the video was watched; if no video is available, nothing is charged and nothing is granted.
4. Purchases
All purchases are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, under their terms and at the price shown in the store for your country.
- Remove Ads is a one-time, non-consumable purchase, not a subscription. It turns off the ads between levels for good on the store account that bought it. Optional videos stay available so you can still earn coins, streak freezes and skips from them if you want to. Use Restore purchases (Settings > Purchases) to get Remove Ads back after reinstalling or on another device signed in to the same store account. On the App Store, Remove Ads can be shared with your Family Sharing group.
- Coin packs and other coin bundles are consumable purchases. The coins are added to the wallet on the device where you bought them. Coins are kept on this device and can't be restored: they are not linked to an account, are not transferred to other devices, and are lost if you delete the app. Restore purchases does not bring back coins.
- Coins and hint tokens are a game currency with no cash value. They cannot be exchanged, transferred or redeemed for money or anything outside the game.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies; we cannot issue refunds directly. If a refund is granted for Remove Ads, the ads between levels come back.
- If a purchase went through but the app did not deliver it, contact shikaku@benbasha.com with the store receipt and we will help.
5. Your game data
Your progress, coins and settings are saved only on your device (see the privacy policy). We have no copy of them, so we cannot recover lost progress or coins, for example after deleting the app, resetting or losing a device.
6. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the app: for example by tampering with purchases, coins or rewards, faking ad views or scores, submitting manipulated scores to Game Center, or using the app in any unlawful way.
7. Game Center and third-party services
Game Center is provided by Apple, and ads by Google AdMob and its partners. Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for them.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited by contract.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of the app, including loss of locally stored progress or coins. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for purchases in the app in the 12 months before the claim (or zero if you made none).
10. Changes to the app or these terms
We may update, change or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. If these terms change materially, the updated version will be posted at https://shikaku.benbasha.com/terms with a new effective date; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may end the license of anyone who materially breaches these terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and the competent courts in Israel have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, unless the consumer law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
