Three rules. Endless thinking.

Shikaku is a classic Japanese logic puzzle. There is nothing to guess.

  1. Draw a rectangle around each number

Drag across the grid and the rectangle snaps to whole squares.

  2. The number is its size

A 4 needs four squares: two by two, or a line of four.

  3. Cover every square

No gaps, no overlaps, exactly one number per rectangle. Each board has one solution.

A kingdom made of paper

Every solved board becomes a building. Chapters grow into towns, towns into a kingdom.

Made for a quiet, steady mind

One answer, pure logic

Every board has exactly one solution and can be solved by deduction. No guessing, no luck.

Endless levels

A gentle climb from 5x5 boards up to 10x14, with a boss at the end of every 20-level chapter. Level 100 is the same puzzle for everyone.

Build a paper kingdom

Each solve raises a building on the map. Watch a blank shore turn into towns, a lantern quarter and beyond.

The Daily Dispatch

A new puzzle every morning, the same for everyone. Easy on Monday, Expert on Sunday. Keep a streak, with freezes for busy days.

Hints that teach

Stuck? Kite the paper crane shows the next deduction and names the technique, so you learn it for next time.

Every rectangle plays a note

Each board you finish plays back as its own short melody. Turn music and sounds on or off any time.

Play your way

No time pressure: hide the timer. Tap two corners instead of dragging, light or dark theme, and a colour-blind palette.

Game Center

On iPhone and iPad: a daily fastest-time leaderboard, your highest level, and achievements for chapters and streaks.

Paper-craft art: the apprentice Wren and Kite the paper crane look over a coastal kingdom being folded into place

Map the kingdom of Folio

You are Wren, an apprentice surveyor. Follow Master Oda's notes across four acts, from the Blank Shore to the frontier, with Kite the paper crane at your side. The story arrives in short paper-craft scenes between chapters.

Free, and fair about it

The whole game is free. Ads pay for it, and they stay out of your way.

How ads work here

  • Never during a puzzle. An ad can appear only between levels.
  • Not at the start. None before you have finished 15 levels, then at most one every 3 levels and 8 a day.
  • No banners. Nothing sits on your board.
  • Videos only when you choose. Watch one for coins, a hint when you are out of hints and coins, a doubled chest, a streak freeze or a skip, or don't.

What you can buy

  • Remove Ads: a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It turns off the ads between levels for good; optional videos stay if you want them. Restore it on your other devices.
  • Coin packs: optional, for extra hints, board checks and Time Freezes. Coins are kept on this device and can't be restored.
  • Treasury: part of what you win collects in the Treasury as you play; when it is full, you can buy the coins it holds.
  • Starter pack: a one-time bundle of coins, hints and Time Freezes, offered for a short time after level 20.
  • Coins and hints can also be earned by playing.
